Who we are

Ilja is the founder and CEO of Aseptix. He is also the founder and CEO of Hygienius Healthcare. He is a chemical engineer by education, and spent his professional career in technology start-up management and venture capital.

He was a general partner and investment principal with Holland Capital (www.hollandcapital.nl), a €200 million independent venture capital firm.

After Holland Venture, Ilja founded, structured and managed Prime Ventures (www.primeventures.com), a €700 million independent venture capital fund. He acted as managing partner and invested in and served on the boards of several companies, among which Tridion (acquired by SDL), Speedwise (acquired by Orsus Solutions), Unamic (acquired by Eneco Energy), Q-Go (acquired by RightNow), Marnetics (AMEX USA), Devote (AEX NL), Inverness (acquired by Virata Systems), RadWiz (acquired by Terayon), Nogatech (NASDAQ USA), and Sportweek Media (acquired by VNU).

Ilja has a cum laude chemical engineering degree, a degree in business economics and a doctoral degree in Business Administration from Nyenrode University. He holds over 60 patents and patent applications.

Prior to joining Aseptix, Gerrit was Managing Director at DVB Bank, a specialized global transportation bank. Gerrit headed the Structured Asset Finance activities of the bank and led a group that included professionals in New York, London, Singapore and Rotterdam.

He started his career in 1991 at NIBC, a Dutch wholesale bank for which he was active in the field of aircraft leasing and finance and later in Corporate Finance until he joined DVB Bank in 1998.

Gerrit graduated in Business and Administration at Nyenrode University and holds a doctoral degree in Finance and Investments from Erasmus University.
